Ratnam Sivagnananthan and his team pamper guests at the Rathausstübli for 25 years. Anyone who keeps the fort in the same place for so long does a lot of things right.

Unfortunately, they do not bring anything to light – except that the Rathausstübli was renovated in 1956. For more information, they give me the 350-page volume “Laufen – A Tale of a Town”. Nothing can be found there about the restaurant you are looking for. On the other hand, there are notable issues of customs and habits in the hospitality industry in the 16th century in Laufen: “This gambling was banned and that the innkeepers were not allowed to keep ‘communists longer than one night’ in their house…”
