Again a masterpiece
The fact that 947 men and women were able to start was, as always, a master presentation of the DLRG in Stralsund. 350 technicians, rescuers, boat drivers and other helpers made sure everything flowed smoothly. I only think of the about 50 rescue workers from the DLRG and ASB who fortunately had little to do but were armed with hot tents and top equipment for emergencies. Or the many boatmen and paddlers who ensured safety on the sound.
The technicians had to improvise again, as there were four power outages, which moreover also affected the timing of the Sundschwimmen and the video team OZ. And the internet also had its quirks.

At such moments, Thomas Melzer’s crew comes into play. The 58-year-old is the head of the ten-strong kitchen crew in the DLRG building. 700 buns, 140 burgers, 40 liters of lentil soup, 30 trays of crumbled cake and in the evening a lot of pizza went over the table to feed the volunteers, completely homemade, of course. So tastefully pampered – small mishaps were quickly forgotten.
